The Listening Experience

The public reading of Scripture and listening in community to its words have factored prominently in some of the most defining moments in the history of God’s people. Deuteronomy portrays one of the last events in the life of Moses – the extensive public reading of the Torah to both adults and children before they crossed into the Promised Land. In Ezra’s day God’s people were deeply impacted by the experience of the public reading of Scripture. The Apostle Paul urged Timothy to devote himself to the public reading of Scripture (1 Timothy 4:13).

Unabridged Truth hosts a series of six immersive Bible listening experiences which cover major sections of Scripture. Participants listen to high-quality recordings as they follow along in their own Bibles, taking notes as desired. The Torah Listening Experience is an impactful journey through the five books of Moses. In addition to listening to every word of these books, this unforgettable weekend event includes a highly interactive experience with a Hebrew Torah scroll, where participants discover how it was meticulously copied and preserved. The Poetic Writings, New Testament, and Prophetic Writings Listening Experiences can also be scheduled over a weekend. An additional day is recommended for The Historical Books Listening Experience. Together, these five standalone listening experiences comprise the entire Bible.

The ultimate Unabridged Truth Listening Experience includes listening through the entire Bible during a single ten-day to two-week event. It is a powerful and unforgettable experience to hear, over the course of a single event, every word that God has given to his people for this age.

Each of these Unabridged Listening Experiences is accompanied by engaging biblical messages and interactive activities for participants of all ages. The goal is to ignite within each participant a lifelong passion for the Bible. Following these immersive and powerful Bible experiences, Unabridged seeks to leave behind groups committed to meeting weekly for the ongoing public reading and listening of Scripture.

Planned International events in 2024 include a series of Unabridged Listening Experiences through the highlands of Papua New Guinea. In partnership with Bible translators, these will coincide with the first recording of a just-completed New Testament translation in a local tribal language. Participants will, for the very first time, hear the words of Scripture in their own heart language.
